Top 10 Everyday Makeup Essentials

Let me start this post by formally admitting to all of you – I am a certified makeup addict. And by that, I mean I have an entire dresser dedicated to makeup storage and yet, I can still never seem to leave Sephora empty handed. It's a problem, I know.

However, my love of makeup is ultimately rooted in my love of creativity. In my mind, makeup products and art supplies are one in the same – they are the magical ingredients that help an artist create something beautiful. But what is unique and special about makeup, is that you aren't starting from scratch. Rather than beginning with a blank canvas, you are taking the beautiful features a person already has and using makeup to accentuate this existing beauty.

That said, all of my makeup hoarding has given me the opportunity to test and try out an embarrassing number of products. You name it - I either own it, have tried it, or have read about it. So today, I thought it would be fun to rummage through my collection and pull out 10 products that I find myself reaching for, day after day. My go-to, ride or die and can't live without.

Without further ado,

here is a roundup of my Top 10 Everyday Makeup Essentials.

1. Dr. Jart+ BB Dis-A-Pore Beauty Balm – $36

Of all the foundations I own, this is the one I use most frequently and that I've repurchased the most times. Its magical little formula moisturizes your skin, conceals redness, protects from sun damage and helps minimize the appearance of pores, all at once. Sounds too good to be true, doesn't it?! The coverage is quite impressive, for a BB cream, and it leaves your skin with a very natural looking finish. The only downside is that the product only comes in two shades, and they are both fairly light. Total bummer. However, Dr. Jart+ carries a number of other BB cream formulations, some of which carry darker shades, so I would suggest giving those a try if this product doesn't work with your skin tone.

This is an oldie, but an oh so goodie. I think I purchased my first Mineralize Skinfinish Powder in high school and, to this day, I've never found a face powder that I love more. The powder itself is baked and has a very natural-satin finish, on the skin. The coverage is on the lighter side, so typically I use this is as a setting powder on top of my BB cream or foundation. However, if you wanted to skip foundation, this can also be worn alone, on moisturized skin. What's great about the baked formula and light finish is that this powder never looks cakey or chalky. I can reapply and touch up all day long and still have a natural ‘skinfinish' by the time I get home.

3. MAC Pro Longwear Concealer – $22

For all you ladies who feel like no matter what you do, your under-eye circles have taken up a permanent residency on your face – this product will be your new BFF. I can honestly get 2 hours of sleep, slap on some of this concealer and look like I'm fresh and ready to go. My tip would be that if you want a brighter look under your eyes, purchase this product one shade lighter than your natural skin tone. That way, when you apply the concealer under your eyes and blend it in, you get a youthful little pop of brightness.

4. Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz – $21

Anastasia is known for being the brow master and this product is a true testament to that. On one end, the Brow Wiz has an extremely fine-tipped pencil, which makes drawing small hair-like strokes easily achievable. And on the other end, it has an amazing spoolie, which can be used to brush through your brows and blend out your pencil strokes. The product also has a wide shade range, so it's easy to find a color that matches your natural brow hairs. This little guy is a mainstay in my daily routine.

5. Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel – $22

After you have finished filling in your beautiful brows with her Brow Wiz, Anastasia's Clear Brow gel is the final step to lock those puppies in place, for the rest of ever. Okay, maybe not forever - but this stuff is like glue (in the most amazing way possible). Personally, I was #blessed with my father's unruly eyebrows, so without this stuff, my eyebrow hairs look like they're flailing in the wind, at all times. However, once I brush this gel through my brows every little hair stays in place, without making me feel like I have shellac on my face.

6. Benefit Cosmetics Hoola Matte Bronzer – $29

Finding the perfect bronzer can be tricky. Especially for someone like me, who has such fair skin that looking like a clown is all too achievable. But Benefit did it right when they created this gem. Their Hoola Matte Bronzer is the perfect shade of ‘bronze', for a variety of skin tones. It's not overly warm or overly cool, which makes it great for any season or skin tone. It also doubles as an eyeshadow, if you're in a hurry and need some quick definition to your eyes. Just pop some of this into your crease, using a fluffy eyeshadow brush, and you're good to go!

7. Makeup Geek Blush – $15

If you aren't already familiar with Makeup Geek, I highly recommend that you check them out. They have top notch products that rival (and often exceed) the quality level of luxury brands, but the price tag is much easier on your eyes. Though I love many of their products, the blushes (and eyeshadows!) are absolutely incredible. The formula of these blushes is soft, buttery and highly pigmented. A little goes a long way and the product doesn't fade, throughout the day. They also have a great shade range, so you can find a color that will compliment any look. My go-to color is spell bound, which is a soft peachy pink.

8. MAC Lipstick – $17

MAC Lipsticks are a true staple in my makeup collection. I own more than I care to admit and generally have at least 3 rolling around in my purse, on any given day. There's just something about the formulation, the packaging and even the smell that makes me reach for these over and over again. Not to mention that with 8 different finishes and 238 shades, they certainly carry a lipstick for every person and every occasion. My most loved day-to-day color is Modesty, which is a muted pink, with a creemsheen finish.

9. Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner – $22

Liquid liner is a great option if you're looking to add a touch of sleekness to your makeup look and some definition to your eyes. However, it's not always known for being the most user-friendly makeup product. I've tried quite a few different liquid liner pens, but none have been as easy to use as Stila's Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner. The felt tip on this pen has an extremely fine point, which makes it easy to get that sharp, crisp line. The liner is also jet black and lasts all day long, so you don't have to worry about any touch-ups throughout the day.

10. L'oreal Voluminous Carbon Black Volume Building Mascara – $8

As I'm sure you've noticed, I tend to gravitate towards more high-end makeup products. Neither my wallet nor my husband appreciates this! However, when it comes to mascara, I'm a firm believer that you don't need to spend a fortune to get gorgeous lashes. L'oreal's Voluminous Carbon Black Volume Building Mascara is proof of this and does wonders for the eyes. This mascara gives your lashes tons of volume and length, without any clumps or flaking. It's also very buildable, so you can also pile this stuff on for a more dramatic look. Even after trying some high-end mascaras, I still always come back to this one, as my favorite.

Phew, we made it!
